In next week’s all-new episode of Shimmer and Shine\u00a0<\/em>(airing Wednesday, July 6 at 12pm\/11c as part of Nickelodeon’s Wishing Wednesdays<\/strong>), Shimmer, Shine, and Leah have a magical, starry-night-sleepover adventure. \u00a0Here\u2019s a way to recycle a jam jar and\u00a0bring the magic to your child’s nighttime routine: make\u00a0this wish catcher nightlight together!<\/p>\n

(Difficulty Level:\u00a0<\/strong>Medium)<\/p>\n

What You’ll Need
\n<\/strong>Votive candle
\nPaintbrush
\nMatte medium (substitue white multi-purpose\u00a0glue or mod podge)
\nGlitter, pink and blue
\nTissue paper, pink and blue, cut into 1\/2\u201d strips
\nThick-wired ribbon
\nScissors
\nJam jar, medium-sized
\nGlue gun and hot glue sticks
\nFlat-backed jewels (rhinestones)
\nThin satin ribbon
\nSmall spoon
\nPink or blue sand<\/p>\n

How to Make<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Shimmer<\/p>\n

Step One:\u00a0<\/strong>Brush outside of votive with a thin coating of matte medium and then roll in glitter to cover.<\/p>\n

\"Shimmer<\/p>\n

Step Two:\u00a0<\/strong>Brush on another layer of matte medium and cover with tissue paper strips.\u00a0Once the matte medium dries (about 10 minutes), brush more on bottom strip and sprinkle with glitter. (A young person can help with this part–just make sure to contain the glitter to your covered work space for easier clean-up!)<\/p>\n

Step Three:\u00a0<\/strong>Trim wired ribbon to fit around the circumference of the jar plus an extra 1\/4\u201d for gluing in place. Use dots of hot glue to hold wired ribbon in place.<\/p>\n

Step Four:<\/strong>\u00a0Hot glue flat-backed jewels and satin ribbon to top edge of jar, then\u00a0glue flat-backed jewels to the rest of the jar.<\/p>\n

Step Five:\u00a0<\/strong>You or your helper can mix\u00a0sand with\u00a0glitter (2:1 glitter to sand ratio) and fill jar a bit more than halfway with sand\/glitter mixture.\u00a0Nestle glittered votive in sand.<\/p>\n
